
ELIGIBILITY & ACCEPTANCE:
Divisions:
Mrs. Michigan Galaxy®
Must be legally married to a naturally born genetic male as of the start date of the state pageant event. Ages 20 & over.
Ms. Michigan Galaxy®
Must be age 30 & over. (e.g., single, divorced, widowed, single mother). Applicants who are married cannot "choose" to enter this division simply because of age.
Miss Michigan Galaxy®
Must be unmarried (e.g., single, divorced, widowed, single mother) as of the start date of the state pageant event.
Must be at least 19-29 years of age. Delegates may be 18 years of age provided that they reach their 19th birthday prior to the international pageant.
Miss Teen Michigan Galaxy®
Must be single and never married as of the start date of the pageant event.
Must be at least 13-18. Applicant must not turn older than 18 as of August 1, 2008. Delegates may be 12 years of age provided that they reach their 13th birthday before the international finals.
Teens must agree that they are not in the process of becoming married for a year prior to the international pageant and a year after the international finals.
Gender:
Entrant must be a naturally born genetic female.
Preliminary Pageants:
A delegate is not required to enter into a preliminary pageant to qualify for the Michigan Galaxy Pageants™.
Preliminary pageant entrant agrees to look solely to the preliminary Pageant Director with respect to all matters relating to her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process, and all other matters relating to the preliminary pageant. Harrison Productions, LLC, its members, managers, agents and employees are not liable to entrant for anything whatsoever in connection with the preliminary pageant.
Entrant agrees to attend the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ if selected as the winner in a preliminary pageant and further abide by all the required services, rules and regulations governing this pageant.
Winners of preliminary pageants are not eligible to re-compete in the same division at the same preliminary pageant but may re-enter once their status changes such that they become eligible for a different division.
Winners of preliminary pageants may re-enter the state pageant as an at-large delegate once they have fulfilled their obligations as specified by the rules and regulations of the preliminary pageant.
Participants of preliminary pageants who are not named as the winning titleholder(s) may apply to become an at-large delegate following the conclusion of the preliminary pageant.
Delegates may qualify for more than one preliminary, the following is what is generally determined in a Delegates participation in a preliminary pageant:
Eligibility for at-large country, regional, cultural, state and city titles is determined by meeting at least one of the following criteria:
Current residency, employment, student status, property owner or born in the region.
“At-Large” Entry:
“At-large” refers to the status of any delegate who enters the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ directly at the state level without first winning a preliminary pageant.
Upon receipt of required deposit, at-large applicant is placed into “pending” status regarding title assignment. At-large applicant may make payments or may make payment in full at the time of application.
At-large titles are assigned upon receipt of paperwork, photo(s) and payment in full of required fees.
Harrison Productions, LLC retains full and ultimate authority for any and all decisions regarding assignment of titles to at-large delegates for representation associated with the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™.
At large delegate agrees to look solely to Harrison Productions, LLC with respect to all matters relating to the application, the preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process and all other matters relating to this pageant.
Harrison Productions, LLC retains the right to assign titles to at-large delegates at any time for upcoming Michigan Galaxy Pageants™ (i.e., a 2007 at-large state titleholder may be assigned during the 2006 calendar year, even if the title is being held contemporaneously by a 2006 at-large delegate).
Returning Delegates:
Former winners of the titles Mrs. Michigan Galaxy®, Ms. Michigan Galaxy®, Miss Michigan Galaxy®, and Miss Teen Michigan Galaxy® are not eligible to compete in the same division but may re-enter once their status changes such that they become eligible for a different division.
At large delegates may re-enter the state pageant from year to year.
Winners of preliminary pageants are not eligible to re-compete in the same division at the same preliminary pageant but may re-enter once their status changes such that they become eligible for a different division.
Winners of preliminary pageants may re-enter the state pageant as an at-large delegate in the same division.
Commercial Tie-Up:
Entrant may have a modeling, commercial tie-up, personal management and/or agency contract, which contract however does not include, authorize or permit the use of the name of the Galaxy International Pageant,™ or any other registered trademark or tradename of Galaxy Pageants, Inc. or any title designation or reference with respect to the pageant in any manner.
Eligibility / Acceptance Determination Agreement:
All issues as to eligibility shall be determined solely and exclusively by Harrison Productions, LLC. Entrant agrees to abide by eligibility determination both as to herself and others. Entrant agrees to produce an original copy of her birth certificate to verify age and gender upon request. Entrant agrees to produce an original copy of her marriage license or divorce decree to verify marital status upon request. Harrison Productions, LLC reserves the right to refuse entry into the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ to anyone for any reason.
COMPETITION JUDGING
The Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ is a traditional beauty pageant for women of Michigan who are ages 13-older. Areas of competition include: Photogenic, Private Interview, Fashion, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown. Each area of competition is equally weighted at 20%. Finalists will answer an on-stage question for bonus points.
Opening Production Number (not judged).
The Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ will include a choreographed opening number. Delegates must provide their own attire for opening number as specified by Harrison Productions, LLC. Information about the 2007 Opening Production Number and required attired to be posted when available. The Opening Production Number is not judged.
Photogenic (20%).
Harrison Productions, LLC relies heavily upon advertising in industry publications and the internet to promotion the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™. Therefore, titleholders must possess photogenic appeal and ability to project an image consistent with beauty and elegance. Photo requirements:

May be in either a seated or standing position.

Must be of good quality and clarity.

Must submit a copyright release if required by her photographer.

Must bring photos with them to registration.

Photo should look like you.

Judging criteria: photogenic appeal, photo quality and clarity, beauty of face and figure, personality, grooming and fashion sense.
Interview (20%).
Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must be articulate with excellent social and conversational skills. Titleholders must be able to express themselves clearly, diplomatically, and must project a pleasant personality at all times.

Interviews are conducted panel style for a duration of 5 minutes.

Focuses primarily on delegates' personal information (e.g., hobbies, ambition, etc.) but may include opinion questions that require general knowledge of social and current events.

Wear a dress, cocktail suit, or pantsuit for the interview competition.

Judging criteria: conversational skill, personality, demeanor, beauty, grooming, and fashion sense.
Swimsuit (20%).
Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must exemplify a lifestyle of good physical, emotional and intellectual health. Winners should be physically fit, with good muscle tone and body proportion. Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must carry themselves with confidence and grace.

Delegates will model a 1-piece or 2-piece swimsuit.

Swimsuit may have cut-outs, mesh, and/or embellishments
Delegates must also bring a matching fabric scarf to model with swimsuit. May be made of any fabric but chiffon or organza are recommended. Scarf may be a solid color or a print. Scarf /does not have to be the same color as the swimsuit - may be a complementary color. The scarf / sarong should be approximately 3' wide 5'-6' in length. Very short or small sarongs (the kind the tie at the waist) are not recommended. If you have trouble finding a scarf / sarong, a quick trip to the local fabric store for a piece of organza or chiffon will do the trick nicely!

Swimsuit must be in good taste. No thongs or rios allowed.

A solid color swimsuit is recommended, but not required.

High heels (e.g., acrylic, taupe, skin-tone) are recommended but not required.

Sheer hose may be worn if desired.

Fashion (20%)
Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must be able to project their own personal sense of style. This segment will be conducted very much like a runway fashion show. Fashion attire can be anything the delegate feels represents a currently popular or stylish ensemble. Judges will be looking for high energy, spirit, and the delegate's sense of contemporary style for today's woman. Judges are not looking for a specific style or designer label but rather how well the attire suits the delegate (e.g., fit, color, style) as well as delegate’s on-stage presentation. Attire is dressy-casual and may be a dress or pants outfit.

Delegates are encouraged to accessorize with earrings, jackets, hats, gloves, etc.

Accessories may be used as “props” for modeling

Bare midriffs are acceptable but must be tasteful and complement size and figure.

Evening Gown (20%)
Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must carry themselves with dignity, grace, poise and elegance. Judges will not be evaluating the cost or designer label of the gown, but rather how well it suits the delegate (e.g., fit, color, style) as well as delegate's on-stage presentation.

Teens are permitted to wear sophisticated, beaded gowns.

Judging criteria: modeling, personality, beauty, grooming and fashion sense.
On-Stage Question (bonus pts, finalists only).
Michigan Galaxy™ titleholders must be able to express themselves with confidence. Finalists will respond to a question on-stage to earn up to 10 bonus points which will be added to each finalists’ composite score. The question will be taken from information listed on the delegate's fact sheet.
Judges:

A minimum of 4 judges will evaluate delegates in the five areas of competition: Photogenic, Interview, Swimsuit, Fashion, Evening Gown. All areas of competition are equally weighted at 20% each.

Harrison Productions, LLC has sole discretion and complete authority to select judges.
-
Reasonable efforts are made to secure a culturally and professionally diverse panel of judges.
-
Judges' names are not released to delegates prior to arrival at the pageant.
-
Delegates may not approach the judges or engage in conversation with judges prior to or during the competition. Delegates who are observed approaching a judge or engage in conversation with a judge beyond a brief greeting risk immediate disqualification at the discretion of Coronation, Inc.

Judges are provided with training and instruction regarding scoring procedures prior to the competition.

The decision of the judges is final and not contestable for any reason.
Scoring:
Scoring is conducted on a 10-point scale:

9-10 = Excellent

7-8 = Very Good

5-6 = Good
-
3-4 = Average
-
1-2 = Below Average
Breaking Ties:
The following procedure is used to break ties:
-
Each judge will assign the Top 5 finalists a ranking from 1 to 5 (1 = “Winner”, 5 = “4th Runner-Up”.) A ranking of 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 4 pts, 3rd = 3 pts, 4th = 2 pts, 5th = 1 pt. Points earned from rankings are added to the delegates’ scores.

If the rankings do not resolve the tie(s), the higher individual competition score will determine the higher placement in this order: Interview, On-Stage Question, Photogenic, Evening Gown, Fashion, Swimsuit.

In the absence of ties, judges are not asked to provide rankings.

Delegates may request their scores using a form provided by Harrison Productions, LLC.

Under no circumstances will delegates have the right to view anyone's scores but their own. Coronation, Inc. respects each individual delegate's right to privacy and confidentiality.

The master tabulator's sheet is not made public.
ENTRY FEE / PAYMENTS
An entry fee is required to enter the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® as an at-large delegate. The fee amount is advertised on the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® website. Delegate may seek sponsors or may pay the entry fee herself. All sponsors are recognized in the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® program book at no charge. Payment may be made by personal check, money order, or credit card via PayPal. Delegates may make payments toward the total entry fee.
Payments of any amount must be made at least every 30 days until the total fee is received. Failure to remit payment every 30 days may result in loss of title and fees paid.
The Michigan Galaxy Pageant® is self-supporting and relies solely upon entry fees to cover production expenses. Production expenses include but are not limited to: advertising, hotel rentals, theater rentals, performers’ fees, judges' expenses, staging, supplies, prizes, awards, etc.
A significant percentage of the entry fee is directed back to each delegate in the form of meals, entertainment, parties, gifts, and prizes.

All fees paid to Harrison Productions, LLC are NOT REFUNDABLE and NOT TRANSFERABLE in full or in part for under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to entry fees, advertising fees, pageant admission ticket sales fees, guest meal fees and any other fees paid to Harrison Productions, LLC by anyone including, but not limited to, delegates, sponsors, and advertisers.
DEADLINES
The entry deadlines are posted in the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® paperwork. Entry fees must be paid in full by the final entry deadline. Preliminary pageants must be concluded by the entry deadline. There will be no exceptions under any circumstances.
All required delegate paperwork (e.g., Biographical Information Form, etc.) must be complete and received by Harrison Productions, LLC by the paperwork deadline which is posted in the paperwork.
Required crown and sash photo for the Official Program Book must be received by the deadline which is posted in the paperwork.
Delegates may use a different photo for the photogenic judging segment and may bring their photo to the pageant finals.
All deadlines are strictly enforced and must be adhered to by entrant and preliminary pageant directors. Entrant (and director, if applicable) understands and agrees to the following penalty for late submission of required items, including paperwork, photography and full payment of fees by posted deadlines: A total of 1 point per day per late item is deducted from delegate’s total score.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Photography. Entrant must submit a headshot photo for the Michigan Galaxy website and Program Book Photo as specified in Competition Judging section. Photos may be mailed to Harrison Productions, LLC, 2207 McLaren Street, Burton, Michigan 48529.
Attire. Delegates provide their own competition and opening number attire. Other wardrobe requirements will be posted on the pageant website.
Travel. Delegates make their own travel arrangements. Harrison Productions, LLC, is not responsible for arranging travel or intervening / resolving disputes involving travel to the host site for the pageant competition.
Hotel. Delegates are required to stay at the host hotel (unless delegate lives close enough to drive from home to pageant events each day). Delegates and their families must make their own hotel reservations.
Minors. Delegates who are under 18 years of age as of the pageant date must be accompanied by an adult until they reach the pageant destination. Harrison Productions, LLC, assumes no responsibility for minors as they are traveling.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Entrant affirms that she is and will continue to be a person of good moral character; that she has not committed and will not commit any act inconsistent with the highest standards of public morals and conventions or that will reflect unfavorably on the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees; that she has not appeared in nude or provocative photographs for any film or publication prior to, during the preliminary or pageant finals, or during her reign should she become a preliminary Winner, at-large delegate or Michigan Galaxy Pageant® Titleholder.
Delegate will conduct herself in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ and while representing a Michigan Galaxy Pageant® title.
Delegate will not slander or libel other contestants, judges, Harrison Productions, LLC, staff or anyone else involved with or connected to the Michigan Galaxy Pageant®. Defamatory verbal and/or written remarks against Harrison Productions, LLC and the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of any and all prizes and awards won, and legal charges.
Any delegate found publicly posting slanderous remarks on public forums will be immediately disqualified.
Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Disruptive behavior before, during, or after the pageant may result in disqualification, removal from the premises, and legal charges.
Delegate agrees to sign a Code of Conduct statement indicating agreement to abide by the terms specified here. Failure to sign the Code of Conduct statement does not in any way release delegate from responsibility to abide by the Code of Conduct stated here.
All issues related to the Code of Conduct and consequences for violation thereof shall be determined solely and exclusively by Harrison Productions, LLC. Entrant agrees to accept such determinations made by Galaxy. both as to herself and others.
Participation in Michigan Galaxy Pageant® Events.
Delegates are expected to be on time and present for all scheduled rehearsals and events leading up to and during the pageant finals. Delegates will lose 1 point for each unexcused missed event. In the event of illness, a delegate may be excused from attending an event. Harrison Productions, LLC, Manager is the only individual with the authority to release a delegate from a scheduled event.
State Winners’ Contract
If selected as a Michigan Galaxy Pageant® winner, delegate agrees to sign a contract stating agreement to arrange and make a minimum of 12 appearances throughout her year’s reign. Appearances may include but are not limited to parades; radio, television and newspaper interviews; and public appearances at events. Winners are expected to provide Harrison Productions, LLC with photos of appearances for the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® website and promotion. If delegate is unwilling to sign the contract and/or unable or unwilling to fulfill the obligations, the title won and all prizes will be awarded to the first runner up.
The reign of the four overall Michigan Galaxy Pageant™ winners (i.e., Miss Teen Michigan Galaxy®, Miss Michigan Galaxy®, Ms. Michigan Galaxy®, Mrs. Michigan Galaxy®) will commence immediately after crowning and will end immediately following the crowning of their successor.
Michigan Galaxy Pageant® titleholders agree to make monthly contact with Harirson Productions, LLC, by phone, letter, fax or e-mail.
Michigan Galaxy Pageant® titleholders agree to provide Harrison Productions, LLC, with photocopies of articles pertaining to her reign and pictures of appearances for the pageant history scrapbook.
Overall Michigan Galaxy Pageant® titleholders (i.e., Miss Teen Michigan Galaxy®, Miss Michigan Galaxy®, Ms. Michigan Galaxy® and Mrs. Michigan Galaxy®) agree that they will not enter any other pageant or compete for any other titles during their year’s reign without the prior written permission from Harrison Productions, LLC. The Michigan Galaxy Pageant® title is the overall winners' main pageant-related priority. Winners are expected to give their time and energy to this title and this title only during their year’s reign. Permission for Michigan Galaxy Pageant® titleholders to participate in other pageants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Winners may have a modeling, commercial tie-up, personal management and/or agency contract, which contract however does not include, authorize or permit the use of the name of the Galaxy International Pageant®, or any other registered tradename, trademark or logo of Galaxy Pageants, Inc., or any title designation or reference with respect to the pageant in any manner.
State winners agree to attend the next year’s pageant to crown their successors. Winners’ travel, lodging, and meal expenses will be arranged for and paid by Harrison Productions, LLC.
STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT:
Publicity and Promotion.
By virtue of participation in the Michigan Galaxy Pageant®, delegate agrees to allow Harrison Productions, LLC, the right to use her name, likeness, voice and/or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion now and in the future. Delegate understands that her name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information may be used on the internet, in print advertising, press releases and merchandise related to the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® (e.g., t-shirts, tote bags, hats, other apparel, mouse pads, and other promotional materials.) Delegate agrees to release Harrison Productions, LLC from liability for any injury resulting from publicity and promotion. Delegate agrees to waive any and all compensation for use of her name, likeness, voice, and /or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion.
Photography & Videography.
Delegates and their families are permitted to take photos and video during events leading up to the on-stage pageant competition event. Cameras or videography will not be allowed during any on-stage competition events. Individuals who fail to comply with this rule will be asked to leave the venue without benefit of refund for admission ticket. Professional photography and videography will be made available by the Official Michigan Galaxy Pageant Photographer and Videographer.
Disqualification / Title Relinquishment.
If delegate is disqualified or relinquishes, for any reason, any title awarded to her, all prizes must be returned in full, and in condition received. If, for any reason, any of the three international winners resign or are disqualified, the 1st runner-up in the appropriate age division will assume the title and all prizes.
Limitation of Liability / Responsibility
a.) Harrison Productions, LLC, its officers, directors, agents and employees are not liable to entrant for anything whatsoever in connection with any preliminary pageant leading to the Michigan Galaxy Pageant®. Preliminary pageant entrant agrees to look solely to the preliminary Pageant Director with respect to all matters relating to her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process, and all other matters relating to the preliminary pageant.
b.) Harrison Productions, LLC, its officers, employees, and pageant personnel are not responsible for accidents, injury or theft incurred at the time of the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® or travel to and from.
c.) Harrison Productions, LLC is not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of pageant sponsors, judges, or contract vendors (e.g., photographer, videographer, etc.) who may be providing products or services to delegates at the Michigan Galaxy Pageant®.
d.) Harrison Productions, LLC is not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of the host hotel.
e.) Harrison Productions, LLC is not responsible for arranging travel or intervening / resolving disputes surrounding travel to the host location for the pageant competition.
f.) Harrison Productions, LLC is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused to any and all prizes, gifts, and awards bestowed upon entrant after these items become the property of entrant. Entrant agrees to incur replacement and/or repair costs to lost, stolen, or damaged items including but not limited to: crown/tiara, sash, plaques, trophies, etc.
Agreement.
By submitting the entry form and fee(s) to Harrison Productions, LLC, or Director of any Preliminary Pageant leading to the Michigan Galaxy Pageant®, delegate agrees to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by Harrison Productions, LLC. Participation in the Michigan Galaxy Pageant® also indicates acceptance and agreement to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by Harrison Productions, LLC. Delegate attests that all information submitted to Harrison Productions, LLC, is true and accurate. Falsification of information and failure to comply with the policies of Harrison Productions, LLC, may result in immediate disqualification and/or forfeiture of prizes won without benefit of refund in full or in part at the sole discretion of Harrison Productions, LLC.
